Supermarket Belongs to the Community

Supermarket belongs to the community. While Chef has the responsibility to keep it running and be stewards of its functionality, what it does and how it works is driven by the community. The chef/supermarket repository will continue to be where development of the Supermarket application takes place. Come be part of shaping the direction of Supermarket by opening issues and pull requests or by joining us on the Chef Mailing List.

elasticsearch chef cookbook

Installs/Configures elasticsearch

Overview

= THIS IS THE INFOCHIMPS VERSION

= DESCRIPTION:

Installs and configures ElasticSearch.

= REQUIREMENTS:

== Platform:

Tested on Ubuntu 9.10 on EC2 only. YMMV on other platforms.

==Cookbooks:

Requires Opscode's runit and java cookbooks.

= ATTRIBUTES:

It's a good idea to change the cluster_name attribute to something
meaningful, like "production".

Production deployments should also increase the heap_size and fd_ulimit
attributes.

To use the s3 gateway, set the s3_gateway_bucket attribute to the name of an
existing bucket. You'll also need to add aws credentials to the aws databag
(see below)

= USAGE:

This cookbook makes a few assumptions about where files live:

/etc/elasticsearch: configuration files
/var/lib/elasticsearch: elasticsearch runtime files
/var/log/elasticsearch: elasticsearch log directory

Use elasticsearch::autoconf to automatically discover nodes in the cluster. Use
elasticsearch::default for a more static deployment.

Both options will configure ElasticSearch and start the ElasticSearch runit
service.

To use the s3 gateway, add your s3 credentials to a databag item with id "main"
in the "aws" databag. The schema of this item is:
{
"aws_access_key_id":
"aws_secret_access_key":
"aws_account_id":
"ec2_cert":
"ec2_private_key":
}
